A WISEMAN'S TOUR

My name is Harry Wiseman I’m 23 and in March I’ll be cycling solo from the UK to China. In this self-funded tour, I’ll be passing through 20 countries spanning across 2 continents with a minimum of 12,000 miles to cover. The aim is to complete the challenge in a year.

PURPOSE

Raising awareness and funds for the Campaign Against Living Miserably is incredibly important. CALM is a charity that is dedicated to preventing male suicide, the single biggest killer of men under 45 in the UK.

Having gone through some testing experiences myself I know the importance of having a support network around you during your darkest days, for men who are at a crisis point CALM is there to help.

THIRST FOR ADVENTURE

The aim is to explore the far reaches of Europe and Asia. Experiencing different landscapes, cultures and communities is the main goal of the trip.

There’s something extremely romantic about cycling across a foreign land with only yourself to rely on. The challenge of such a mammoth task is naively attractive to me, or maybe it’s some sort of long winded self-punishment.

IN MEMORY

In 2011 my brother Tom passed away suddenly at the age of 21. Tom never got to travel the world so I want to see it for the both of us.

The experience of losing my brother has made me especially passionate about supporting CALM and highlights the importance of such charities. I hope to use this terrible event as a way of motivating myself as I cycle across Eurasia.
